Hi. My name is Jerry Rivers. You might have heard of my late father.
I was googling my dad's name looking for more pictures of him and I found the family photo in your gallery. I have some pictures from the same photo session, but that particular shot is new to me. Thanks for posting it.
I thought you might like to fill in the missing names on the caption. The first unknown, to Lucretia's right, is Hazel Helms. Her elder boy, Frank, stands in front of her. The lovely lady to the right of Hazel is my mother, June Rivers.
I'm not sure about the date in the caption. I think the picture was taken some years after 1949, but I don't know for sure. If I find out, I'll let you know. I think my mom can probably shed some light on it.
Thanks, Jerry

I just talked to my mother and she said that the picture was taken in 1949. She had married my father only 3 months before it was taken.
Also, she identified the lady on her right in the picture as Betty Buttrum, Hillous' first wife.
Hope this helps, Jerry

Hey Jerry,
Thanks for dropping a line and for helping with the information on the photo of your dad and the Drifting Cowboys. I think the photo in question can also be seen in the booklet to the Health & Happiness Shows CD.
I think that we may have been in contact awhile ago (c. 1998). May have been before I started this web-site. I posted a message on a message board asking a question about your dad. You were very helpful with information. It was much appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi folks,
I feel very humble to be part of this message board. My love affair with Country music goes back a long time and was influenced by my mom who sang with Big Bill campbell and his Rocky Mountain rythm in the Pavillion Theatre in Glasgow. I had the pleasure of meeting the Drifting cowboys when they appeared at the Country Festival in London in the late 70's. I have the picture in an album upstairs and from memory I think it is black and white. You may find this unusual as I am a blind person and use special software to surf the internet called window-eyes. This transfers text to speech via a software synthesiser. When I arrow down through a web page the voice reads what is on the page.
I hitch hiked 400 miles down to London from my home in Motherwell, Scotland especially for the festival. When I arrived and explained my situation to a steward he took me back stage and it all began to expand from there. I was treated like a celebrity that weekend, meeting all the artistes and getting interviewed by radio stations. No one had heard of a totally blind guy hitch hiking to London for the Country Festival. I was determined to get there come hell or high water and I did. I met the Drifting cowboys and each time they visited the U.K they always asked about me or so I was told. I would imagine it would be difficult for such huge names in the Country scene remembering everyone they met. sorry for the long introduction as I like many other blind people finding web sites like yours rich in history and memories. Mylove for Country music is second to noneas is my appreciation for good friends. Thank you so much for accepting me on the message board and nice to meet you all.
Yours Countryfied, BJ

Jerry, you seem to be describing a picture which is in Colin Escotts book, Hank Williams, the biography, it is just after page 212, I'll bet your picture was taken just before or just after the one in Escotts book, as most of the people are still sitting in the same position, how can we all view your picture, also, tell us about yourself, are you in the music business? are you in the Nashville area, I'm 50 and am guessing you would be around the same age, not trying to pry, but am glad you are part of this board.
